Mission

The future of food is regional, counted, and returned to the soil.

Culinatural started as a private chef service. It is becoming a supply chain: a kitchen that buys direct from Front Range farms and ranches, counts every ingredient it cooks with, and gives back to the land it came from. This page is the plan.

Why a kitchen

The farm is hidden. A kitchen can see it.

  1. 01

    The farm is hidden.

Most food reaches a plate through a chain no one at the table can see. The farm, the practice and the distance are lost by the second handoff.

  2. 02

    A kitchen can see it.

A private chef kitchen buys in small amounts, from people it knows, for tables it knows. It can count what no supermarket can.

  3. 03

Counted food changes what gets grown.

When every order carries its farm, practice and miles, members choose with it and the kitchen buys with it. Demand moves to the growers doing the work.

The three-year plan

Three stages, in order.

A working plan. Each stage is updated here as it lands.

  1. 2026Underway

    The kitchen

Prove the model at the table.

    • The private chef membership in Denver: dinners at home, meals prepped in the same visit, groceries brought with it, one calendar.
    • Every ingredient carries its farm, its practice and its miles, and every order rolls them up.
    • Direct buying from Front Range farms and ranches, in the open.
    • The app: plates built per person, allergens as hard limits, tastes remembered.
  2. 2027Next

    The network

Turn the buying into a supply chain.

    • Standing agreements with the farms and ranches the kitchen buys from most, planned a season ahead.
    • Artisans into the menu: bakers, butchers, cheesemakers and fermenters, named on the plate like the farms.
    • Meal kits: our recipes, prepped by us, finished on your stove.
    • The ADPTGN pantry on the same invoice: the spice blends and teas the kitchen cooks with.
    • Sourcing figures published for every member, every order.
  3. 2028Planned

    The loop

    Return what was taken.

    • Compost routes that take scraps from members' kitchens back to partner farms.
    • A regenerative standard the kitchen buys against, written with the growers and published.
    • Containers and packaging that come back on the next visit, every visit.
    • The model written down so other kitchens can run it in their own region.

The chain

Six links. Each one feeds the next.

If any link goes unsupported, the rest of the chain fails. The kitchen sits in the middle of it and can reach every link.

  1. 01SoilThe life underneath everything: cycling nutrients, holding water, storing carbon. Every link above depends on it.
  2. 02Farmers and foragersThe start of the visible chain. Growers, ranchers and foragers who tend the soil and bring food out of it.
  3. 03ArtisansBakers, butchers, cheesemakers, fermenters. They turn a harvest into food that keeps, and keeps its worth.
  4. 04ChefsRaw ingredients and artisan goods, cooked into a plate for the person eating it.
  5. 05Supply chainThe routes between all of it, from field to kitchen to table, kept regional and kept visible.
  6. 06ReturnScraps, containers and the surplus go back where they came from. The loop closes at the soil.

What we count

Published per order, not claimed.

72%
Regenerative
Cost-weighted share of an order from regenerative practice.
81%
Grown local
Cost-weighted share grown on the Front Range.
Miles
Per ingredient
Farm to kitchen, on every line of every order.
2028
Returned
Scraps and containers back to the farm, counted from the loop stage.

The two shares are from a sample order. The real figures sit on every order in the app.

The chef plating grilled peaches from the pan at the table

Founder

Chef Luke Johnson

A chef in your kitchen, and a food chain behind it.

Culinatural started in Denver in 2024 as a private dining service. The membership, the app and the prep days grew out of what those first tables asked for.

The plan on this page grew out of the shopping. Buying direct for a few households showed how much of the chain one kitchen can see, and how little of it anyone else does.

ADPTGN

The sister store: the spice blends and teas the kitchen cooks with. Functional living in a new age.
